In line with strengthening the country’s scientific and economic diplomacy, a joint cooperation memorandum was signed between Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) and the Permanent Secretariat of the Summit of African Ambassadors to facilitate participation in organizing the Fourth Iran–Africa Economic Cooperation Summit 1405 (2026), recognized as the largest international economic and trade gathering in the country. The memorandum was signed on Monday, 05/05/1405 (July 27, 2026) at the International Affairs Office of Iran University of Medical Sciences.

It is noteworthy that the signing of this memorandum was carried out within the framework of IUMS’s effective participation and prominent role in the Consultative Meeting on Economic Cooperation between Yazd Province and the African Continent, where the University represented the country’s specialized panel on health, medical treatment, and medical education.

The strategic meeting was held in the presence of Dr. Mehdi Moghtadaei, Vice President for International Affairs of Iran University of Medical Sciences; Dr. Mehdi Hosseini, Secretary of the Summit Secretariat; Dr. Hassan Esfandiar, Director of International Relations Development at the International Affairs Office of IUMS; and colleagues from the relevant departments. This initiative represents a new step toward expanding and strengthening international relations and cooperation.

Following the signing of this memorandum, Iran University of Medical Sciences has been designated as the Health, Medical Treatment, and Medical Education Committee of the country for the aforementioned summit and will assume a central role as the main coordinator in organizing this major international event.
