The Health Diplomacy Research Center was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Mehdi Moghtadaei, Vice President for International Affairs of the Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS), and professors of the School of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the Public Relations Department of the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs of the Iran University of Medical Sciences, the Health Diplomacy Research Center was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Mehdi Moghtadaei, Vice President for International Affairs of the Iran University of Medical Sciences, and professors of the School of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ceremony, which was attended by the Vice President for Research of the university and a number of prominent professors, was held.

In his speech, Dr. Mehdi Moghtadaei welcomed the attendees and considered the opening of this center as a good opportunity to develop joint cooperation between the Iran University of Medical Sciences and the Faculty of International Relations, and emphasized the importance of promoting health diplomacy.

Furthermore, Dr. Ali Nemati explained the objectives of the meeting and the areas of research cooperation, and explained the research priorities of the Vice President for International Affairs. Also, Dr. Boroujerdi, a faculty member of the School of International Relations, discussed comparative issues in the field of health diplomacy and emphasized the role of medical technologies in the development of this field.

Dr. Mohammad Reza Dehshiri, Dean of the School of International Relations, pointed out the potential for joint cooperation between the Center for Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Health, and Dr. Asadi Lari provided explanations on global strategies in the field of health, including future epidemics, tobacco, disease eradication, health tourism, and the impact of sanctions on global health.

In this meeting, Dr. Jalil Koohpayehzadeh discussed the importance of a comprehensive definition of health and its dimensions and listed the identification of key audiences in health diplomacy, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Sports, and the Ministry of Health, as requirements in this field. Dr. Reza Falak also pointed out the challenges of research and international cooperation in publishing articles and emphasized that this center can play an effective role in providing policy briefs and commercializing pharmaceutical and medical products.

In the end, it was decided to hold regular meetings and workshops focused on health diplomacy.
