According to the Public Relations Office of the International Affairs Office, a three-day training workshop entitled “Principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP)” was held from 25 to 27 July 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the participation of members of the University’s faculty.

 

The workshop covered a wide range of specialized topics related to the design, conduct, monitoring, and reporting of clinical trials in accordance with internationally recognized Good Clinical Practice (GCP) principles and standards. The program included:

 

1. History and Principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Randomization Methods

2. Blinding, Study Population, Eligibility Criteria, and Clinical Trial Design

3. Outcome Measures, SPIRIT Protocol, Monitoring, and Essential Trial Documentation

4. Iranian GCP Regulations

5. Introduction to the Cochrane Iran Associate Centre

6. Sample Size Determination and Case Report Forms (CRFs)

7. Clinical Trial Registration and the Iranian Registry of Clinical Trials (IRCT)

8. Ethical Considerations and Informed Consent

9. Statistics in Clinical Trials and the Principles of CONSORT Reporting

The workshop was delivered by a distinguished group of faculty members and experts, including Dr. Masoud Soleimani, Dr. Abbas Motavallian, Dr. Marzieh Moradi, Dr. Neda Esmailzadeh, Dr. Akbar Fotouhi, Dr. Behzad Fatemi, Dr. Bita Mesgarpour, Dr. Safdar Masoumi, Dr. Saeed Biroudian, and Dr. Davood Khalili.

The workshop aimed to enhance the knowledge and competencies of researchers and clinical research teams in the proper conduct of clinical trials, promote compliance with ethical and regulatory requirements, improve the quality of clinical research, and increase familiarity with national and international standards. Upon completion of the course, participants gained an updated understanding of the principles and requirements for the design, conduct, monitoring, and reporting of clinical trials in accordance with GCP standards.
