Serbian Ambassador Visits IUMS to Explore Cooperative Opportunities in Health Sciences
On September 22, 2025, Dr. Demir Kovačević, the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Tehran, visited Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) to explore avenues for enhancing international scientific and research collaboration. The visit included a joint meeting with Dr. Mehdi Moghtadaei, Vice President for International Affairs at IUMS, where both parties discussed strategies for fostering cooperation in the fields of medicine, paramedical sciences, and related disciplines.
During the meeting, the representatives underscored the importance of expanding scientific interactions and establishing joint educational and research platforms. Key topics included the organization of short-term and medium-term training programs in various medical and paramedical fields, the exchange of faculty members and postgraduate students, the implementation of joint research initiatives, and the utilization of technological and innovative resources from both countries.
The Serbian Ambassador also toured several advanced research centers at IUMS, including the Cellular and Molecular Research Center, the Neuroscience Center, and the NanogenTech Center. During his visit, he acknowledged the university's substantial capabilities in advancing scientific cooperation and modern medical technologies.
Dr. Moghtadaei highlighted IUMS's prominent position on both national and international stages, expressing optimism that this collaboration would lead to the establishment of joint scientific projects, the enhancement of specialized knowledge, and the advancement of scientific diplomacy between Iran and Serbia.
This meeting marks a significant step towards strengthening scientific and educational ties between the two nations in the health sector and is anticipated to facilitate the conclusion of cooperation agreements in the near future.
