Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) establishes the Office of Health Affairs for Migrants and Refugees (OHAMR)

 

In a groundbreaking move, Dr. Abdolreza Pazouki, President of IUMS, has launched the Office of Health Affairs for Migrants and Refugees (OHAMR) at Iran University of Medical Sciences. Dr. Asgar Aghaei Hashjin, the Director of Accreditation and Ranking at the Office of Vice President for International Affairs, has been appointed as the head of OHAMR, leading this pioneering initiative.

 

The establishment of the Office of Health Affairs for Migrants and Refugees marks the first of its kind at a medical university worldwide. Its primary objective is to enhance the health and well-being of migrants and refugees, addressing their educational, preventive, healthcare, medical, pharmaceutical, and rehabilitation needs.

 

Through applied research, comprehensive needs assessments, and collaboration with national and international institutions, OHAMR aims to improve health services in areas relevant to migrants and refugees. By prioritizing their healthcare requirements and working towards universal health coverage, OHAMR strives to ensure a healthy life for this vulnerable population alongside Iranian citizens.
