According to the latest subject ranking of the Shanghai World University Rankings, Iran University of Medical Sciences has become the country's top university in the field of medicine.

Dr. Moghtadaei, Vice President for International Affairs of Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS), announced the news and added: The Shanghai World University Rankings is one of the most prestigious university ranking systems that ranks universities every year based on their performance in two subject areas and general in six areas. Following the decline in the ranking of Iranian universities in the Shanghai World University Rankings in 2025, which was emphasized by the Minister of Health to follow up and diagnose the reasons for the decline in the ranking of Iranian universities, fortunately and with great pride, Iran University of Medical Sciences became the country's top medical university in the Shanghai Subject Rankings, which was recently announced in 2026, with a significant jump of 100 ranks, achieving a global ranking of 201-300. In this report, eight medical universities in Iran are ranked, with the University of Medical Sciences ranked first. Dr. Moghtadaei stated that the main reason for the university's ranking improvement, when most universities are experiencing a decline in their ranking, is the cooperation and empathy of all university bodies and the focus on the quality of education and research, and especially paying attention to the impact of applied research in the field of medicine and health at the university.
