The School of Health Management & Information Sciences was established in 1976 under the name of the School of Medical Librarianship and Informatics Sciences. It offered undergraduate and graduate programs and started with thirteen students.

In the second semester of 1998-99, the school launched the field of health and medical service management and health and medical information management at the Ph.D. level. In 2009-2010, several new programs were added to the educational programs of the school at the master's and doctoral levels. Over the recent years, the school has launched new fields, including hospital engineering in 2013.

Dr. Vatankhah is the current Dean of the school.
