Iran University of Medical Sciences has been ranked as the country's second top medical university in the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024.

According to Dr. Asgar Aghaei, the Director of Accreditation and Ranking at the Office of Vice President for International Affairs of the Iran University of Medical Sciences, the university was ranked between 601-800 in the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024. More than 1,900 universities from 108 countries were ranked based on 18 performance indicators in five areas including teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.

The ranking methodology has changed this year, focusing on research quality rather than number of citations. Although Iran University of Medical Sciences maintained its position from last year, it improved its overall score and climbed from 20th to 9th among the country's universities. Among the ranked medical universities in Iran, it is now the second best after Tabriz University of Medical Sciences.
