IUMS Receives Accreditation Certificate from EQAA Germany
Iran University of Medical Sciences has successfully obtained an international accreditation certificate from the European Quality Assurance Agency (EQAA) of Germany, becoming the first medical university in the country to do so.
Dr. Moghtadaei, the Vice President for International Affairs at Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS), announced that after three years of dedicated efforts, the university has finally been awarded an accreditation certificate from the EQAA Institute of Germany.
Moghtadaei highlighted that this significant achievement is a result of the hard work of a team of experienced professionals under the leadership of Dr. Asgar Aghaei Hashjin, the Director of Accreditation and Ranking at the Office of Vice President for International Affairs and the head of the international accreditation secretariat.
He further noted that while international accreditation had been overlooked as a requirement of the Medical Education Transformation Plan since 2016, it now plays a crucial role in admitting international students and enhancing educational standards.
Moghtadaei explained that following thorough evaluations by various global accreditation bodies, in 2020, the EQAA Institute of Germany acknowledged the Iran University of Medical Sciences as a leading institution for accrediting medical universities, leading to the immediate initiation of the international accreditation process for IUMS. The institute assessed universities across eight thematic areas using a standardized process, where meeting set standards and providing comprehensive documentation in each area made a university eligible for certification.
Fortunately, after two rounds of evaluations by EQAA Institute expert teams and in compliance with standard procedures, Iran University of Medical Sciences became eligible to receive the international certificate from EQAA Institute in February 2024, valid for five years.
The Vice President for International Affairs at the university expressed gratitude for the efforts and collaboration of all university departments, extending congratulations on this significant achievement to the Iran University of Medical Sciences community. The university hopes to maintain its position as a top-ranked institution globally in health and well-being, as recognized in the 2022 Times Higher Education World University Rankings among over 1100 universities worldwide, and continue to excel in national and international platforms while making positive and lasting contributions to community health.
