History

Iran Educational-Therapeutic Psychiatric Center is one of the largest educational, therapeutic and research centers in Iran at 7th km of Karaj Special Road. Having a long history of more than three decades, using 10 professors in this field and more than 200 personnel and 158 inpatient beds in 6 wards in an area of ​​more than 35,000 m2, this center provide psychiatric services including treatment of inpatient and outpatient psychiatric patients, community-centered psychology and psychiatry services, occupational therapy, laboratory, and radiology. Psychiatric residents and medicine and nursing students are also trained at this center. Several research projects on mood disorders, psychosis, psychiatric genetics, and substance abuse are currently conducting or have been completed.

Before therapeutic activities, the center was Pahlavi’s Equestrian Club and turned into a student dormitory after the revolution. In 1981, Shahid Navvab Safavi Educational-Therapeutic center was established and affiliated to Iran University of Medical Sciences in 1993. Since 2002, the center was renamed as Iran Educational-Therapeutic Psychiatric Center.
