The School of Public Health of Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) was founded in 1987 by the integration of the Higher Education Medical Sciences Institute and Shahid Dr. Lavasani Public Health Junior College. The purpose of establishing this school was to represent (serve) educational, research, and counseling services in the fields of environmental health, occupational health, nutrition sciences, health education, health promotion, and epidemiology. Administrators are extensively invested in education, research, and the qualitative and quantitative promotion of faculty members in order to transform the school into one of the best higher education institutions in Asia.

As the health science training and research department of the university, the School of Public Health makes an effort to promote public health and expand communication. In order to this and improve stability, the quality and quantity of education and research must be enhanced through national and international interaction and cooperation. Some basic and applied research were proposed and implemented at the national level in order to promote public health. Research results lead to an evidence-based approach to health-policy matters. In order to spread the information of researchers and the community, faculty members publish research findings in professional journals.

In line with the concept of health promotion and sustainable development, the School of Public Health aims at achieving the highest national rank through the quantitative and qualitative promotion of education and research and national and international interactions.

Mission

As the Health Sciences Education and Research Branch of Iran University of Medical Sciences, the School of Public Health strives to promote public health and expand health sciences communications.
