Shahid Akbar-Abadi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital

 

Shahid Akbar-Abadi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital was established in 1940 as a firm support for mothers, pregnant women, infants, and indigents. It was inaugurated with only 30 beds and was named as a care center for babiesand mothers.

The number of beds was increased to 50 by constructing a 20-bed nursery building next to the Hospital and was supported financially by donations and charities.

In 1981, through a measure by a faculty agent of the Ministry of Health, it was renamed Shahid Akbar Abadi Nursery (Note: Shahid Mohammad Ali Akbar Abadi was a working staff member in this hospital).

It was donated to Iran University of Medical Sciences in 1986.

At that time, the Ministry of Health approved the Department of Midwifery and Obstetrics for a residential period of medical students (the largest specialty center according to pre-mentioned fields).

The staff is capable to care for high pressure pregnancies and pregnancies with diabetes. The mission is to represent high quality services to pregnant women and infants in order to promote public health.

This center is trying to acquire high-level standards based on producing and developing knowledge and clinical skills in Obstetrics, Gynecology, Infertility, and Infancy, as well as train experts in medical sciences.
