The School of Health Management and Information Sciences was established in 1976 with the name Medical Library and Informatics Sciences of Iran University of Medical Sciences. At the time, it had a mere 13 students.  In 1986, it was renamed the School of Health Management & Information Sciences. This school plays an important role in training professionals in medical service management, medical policy, medical information management, health economy, accounting, and medical information.

The School of Health Management and Information Sciences is well-known for its high quality of educational and research services. It fill the gap between theory and practice by giving numerous educational, research, and counseling services to different organizations. Some short-term and long-term training courses in summer and winter semesters have been designed and implemented to develop the skills and abilities of managers and staff  in fields such as Health Management and Policy, Hospital Management, Strategic Management, Advanced Management. Today, the school has 37 faculty members and 476 students, 285 of whom are post-graduate students.
