With a 41-years history, the School of Rehabilitation Sciences was founded in 1973 as a High Education School for Rehabilitation. Its target was training experts for representing services in rehabilitation centers and other medical centers. Initially, the school’s academic programs were limited to undergraduate degrees in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy.

In 1975, the School was renamed the School of Rehabilitation & Social Welfare.  The School was run independently until 1986, however after organization of the Ministry of Public Health, it became a subset of IUMS. Due to the expansion of rehabilitation sciences and community needs, other rehabilitation fields at the graduate levels were authorized. This School currently admits students in 6 undergraduate, 8 graduate, and 5 postgraduate fields. Graduates will be leaders in their field and ready to deliver high-quality patient care.

The main highlights of this school are: Rehabilitation Research Centre, Specialized Laboratories such as biomechanics, audiometric, buzz rehabilitation, and sound appraisal.
